Visio Divina

Visio Divina is a prayerful practice that invites participants to encounter God through sacred art and guided reflection. By slowly contemplating a sacred image, listening to Scripture, and sharing the movements of the Holy Spirit, participants are drawn into a deeper relationship with Christ and one another. 

Join us for Visio Divina and Calligraphy as we examine illuminations in the Saint John’s Bible relating to virtues. We will meet 5 Saturday mornings, October - December, to view and discuss elements in this 21st century art. You will discover the richness of traditional hand lettered bible materials, as you increase your ability to recognize symbols and interpret complexity within paintings and other art forms, leading to a deeper understanding of the scriptures portrayed. Half of the class time will be hands-on instruction in learning to write with calligraphy tools in use since the Middle Ages.
